Why thumb screw from plastic?
We used to use metal ones but for thumb screws we have
learned the plastic actually hold better. They do not
vibrate and don't need to be tightened as much since the
threads have some give. Particularity when used in
the ArtGraver noses, collets.
Colored
graver beads are good for several uses. Use them to help
identify your gravers. Also set them at the proper
distance for resharpening with the

Quick Resharpening
Spend more time engraving and less time being a
mathematician and sharpening! View above video how
graver beads and thumbscrews speed up sharpening.
Use graver beads for a length stop in the FoolProof
sharpener. They together with a template sets the angle
your point is ground at automatically. Fast repeatable
grinding. Engravers will initially sharpen a new graver
and from then on if that graver is used every day it may
get resharpened 3 to 20 times. That is 1100 to 7000 times
a year! Using a graver bead on each graver in the correct
location makes resharpening fast,
particularity
when also together a
thumbscrew.
Before shipping we coat the brass well with stop rust and
tarnish cream. You may use a soft cloth to remove the
excess. Removing it completely with a solvent isn't
recommended as it would leave the brass exposed and it might
tarnish. Tarnish does not hurt the function of the tool,
only the color..
Sharpening Bead Setter
Easily tweak sharpener template angles with this bead setter.
For use with FoolProof fixture (aka Lindsay sharpening
fixture). To use: insert graver into desired hole and push in
to automatically set proper length. Depending on the hole
used, it will raise or lower the included angle of the point.
Settings are -2.5, + 2.5 and +8. There is also a setting of
default 0 which is the same as original. For use with various
Lindsay templates that are labeled: 1.25" point extend.

Stop rust & tarnish cream 2-oz

Stop rust &
tarnish. Use to help prevent corrosion of steel, brass and
copper. Use it to wipe on metal to hope prevent rust
or tarnish. A good method to apply is cut a
rag approx 3"x3" square and coat it well with the cream
working it through the rag. Use it wipe
down the object. Store the rag in a plastic bag that
can then be reused. The cream is non toxic.
However, if you are allergic to sheep's wool it could
cause an allergic reaction.
Photos on left are of a bead placed in the proper position
with using the +8 included angle hole in the bead setter
sold above. Note it is a lower setting
(extended out less) than default will that in will create
a blunter included point angle for a stronger tip.

About Lindsay
Graver Sharpener Templates
The various templates
are used with the metal sharpening fixture show above ($66).
Just one metal fixture is needed and is used with any of the
templates.
Templates for Universal™ Parallel point™ will provide a point
with a nominal: 45 degree face, 16.5 degree high heel.
The face and heel can be changed in the fixture by simply
reducing the graver length protruding from the fixture. With
all the templates grind more on the points taper facets to

This template is the same as the normal 116°, but the relief grind under
the heel is negative. The purpose of this negative grind is to achieve
more heel clearance. This additional relief was described in the
Lindsay
Universal™ Parallel Point™ patent, but this is the first template
made available to actually achieve this point.
This template
requires that the height of the grinding lap or bench stone be
3/4" instead of the usual 1/2" seen in all previous templates. I
recommend just shimming your 1/2" stones up the last 1/4".
A power hone for initially shaping this is helpful. However it can be done
with the diamond bench stones. Steve tested how long it would take him to
sharpen one from a Carbalt™ blank on the diamond bench stones. It was 15
minutes. Of course starting with a the 3 degree tapered Carbalt™ blank
would considerably shorten the time.
This double thickness template set is similar to the "Narrower" template
above, however the square in this set is smaller. It is used to narrower
the graver too, but so that it closer to parallel with the shank, so that
the grind is more long and slender. After the square template is used, the
round is used to round the top edge of the slender shank. After this the
graver is sharpened normally with the other available templates to make
micro versions of the graver points.
The wrench are setscrew are provided to replace the thumbscrew in the
sharpening fixture. This is needed to be done before using these templates
because they grind so low that the thumbscrew will be in the way if it is
not removed. Simple remove the thumbscrew and install the setscrew with
the supplied wrench. Of course, when you finish with shaping a graver
shank with these templates you may reinstall the thumbscrew.
"Narrower™" Template

Thinning the tip of the blank can be done using this
template which fits on the Lindsay sharpening fixture.

We have
discontinued the diamond spray as so much of it was wasted and
not getting applied to the surface of the ceramic stone.
To use the diamond past dab some on to the ceramic stone and
smear it over the surface. In these photos more than
necessary was applied. Half that much is more than enough.
During use of sharpening the diamond becomes imbedded and caught
in the surface of the ceramic.

The corners of the ceramic are fragile and the one you receive
you will see chips. It is the nature of them but this does
not effect the intended use.

Dental Bur sharpener
by Tim Wells This small fixture is designed to sharpen used 1/16th inch carbide dental
burrs or
carbide rod to a four sided taper that can be used in the air rotarty
tools such as the NSK
Presto. The fixture has a through hole so a longer piece of carbide
can be sharpened if need be. If you would like a tapered point that is
steeper or less step, all that need be done is to set the fixture on
something of suitable thickness so as to give the taper desired. This
can be used with diamond bench stones like used with the Lindsay
template sharpening system,
Tom
White's power hone or other power hones.
Anti-MagLap Spin this lap to demagnetize gravers or other small
metal objects. To use, hold the object to be demagnetized close
to the center of the spinning lap and pull the object straight
away from the center.
Comes with a 1/2" hole in the center so that it can be mounted
on a power hone. Or it can be mounted on a "mandrel lap adapter"
(sold above) so that a drill press or electric hand drill can be
used to spin the lap. Big thank you to Paolo for his

BULLDOZER™ STRENGTH point graver fixture
If you are
into some harder metals and breaking points, this fixture can
help to modify the cutting edge of Universal™ Parallel points™ with
a very tiny squared off facet on the cutting edges that provide
a bulldozer effect. Use on the edge of a table as shown
below to help align your stone. This fixture helps by
positioning the cutting edge parallel to the edge of the fixture
where the stone is used. Note the side of the pointer the graver
is placed on. The point should point away from the

T-W Designs - Diamond Power Hone
Review by Steve Lindsay I have been using this T-W Diamond Power Hone for some time. The speed in which I can rough and finish a
carbalt blank is under two minutes with the machine. I use the machine to rough grind using the Lindsay template
fixture. Once roughed I then rub the graver face on a Lindsay 2000 diamond bench diamond stone with 10 to 15 strokes and then place on the heels with 3
to 7
strokes per side depending on heel size needed. I use the machine at maximum speed for this roughing. The motor has good torque and I can lean on the graver somewhat that also
helps. If grinding a High Speed Steel graver I take it more easy and I don't lean on it as much so that the graver does not get hot and lose its
temper. Be careful with HSS graver and don't get them so hot that they turn colors. I monitor the heat of HSS gravers with my fingers while
grinding for this reason.
